Dear friend,

I LOVE my emotional support water bottle. It’s not just a water bottle—it’s practically an extension of

Sharing my joy after I Found my Water Bottle

who I am. Once, I accidentally left it at a restaurant and couldn’t go back for it for a few days…it was a disaster. I was noticeably less hydrated and I felt like something was missing. Ok ok …maybe I am being a little bit dramatic, but it is funny how these little objects in our lives—water bottles, phone cases, jewelry—become such a meaningful part of our lives and those around us.

Over the summer, I made some new friends, and one of them picked up my water bottle, studying the stickers like a detective piecing together a case. “Hmm, let’s see what this says about you,” they said. It made me laugh, but it was also true—our accessories can say a lot about us.

For me, my water bottle is decorated with stickers of saints, Harry Potter, Snoopy, a silly goose, and butterflies. What my friends detected was that I am Catholic (though apparently not a very good one because I couldn’t remember one of the saints on my water bottle whoops), a fan of Harry Potter and snoopy (both true), and I am silly and fun (according to the silly goose sticker). These may just be assumptions, but I got to share a little about each sticker in the conversation. For instance, the Silly Goose is significant to the Bible Study that I lead because our group chat is called “Go’s Silliest Geese.” Each sticker represents something I love or something I believe in.

What I’ve realized is that these little things can be more than just self-expression, but also tiny tools for evangelization.

The Power of Small Conversations

When we think of evangelization, we often think of people standing on a street corner or delivering lengthy theological arguments. I think it can be as simple as sparking a conversation about your water bottle, your necklace, or your T-shirt. These small moments can plant seeds of faith or open the door to deeper conversations.

Here are a few ways I’ve found that accessorizing can be a “little way” to share your faith:

  • Stickers on Water Bottles
From saint quotes to Scripture verses to cute Catholic puns, stickers are conversation starters. Someone might ask, “Who’s that?” or “What does that quote mean?” and suddenly you’re talking about your favorite saint or how your faith has impacted your life.
  • Jewelry
A cross necklace, a miraculous medal, or a bracelet with a meaningful charm can catch someone’s eye. When they ask about it, you have the chance to share why it’s important to you.
  • Phone Cases or Wallpapers
In a world where our phones are always in our hands, why not use them as a tool for evangelization? A background with your favorite Bible verse or an image of a saint can spark curiosity and invite others into a conversation about faith.
  • T-Shirts or Sweatshirts
Graphic tees with uplifting messages, Scripture quotes, or Catholic designs are another way to let your faith shine. They can even be a silent encouragement to someone who sees it, reminding them of God’s love.

The “Little Way” of Evangelization

These small acts might not seem like much, but they’re part of what St. Thérèse of Lisieux called the “little way.” It’s about doing small things with great love. In a world that’s often noisy and chaotic, little reminders of faith—like a sticker or a piece of jewelry—can speak volumes.

Evangelization doesn’t have to be grand or intimidating. These small moments are opportunities to plant seeds, and God can use them to grow something beautiful.

Accessorizing with Intention

If you’re looking for ways to incorporate your faith into your accessories, start small. Find stickers, jewelry, or apparel that resonate with you and reflect what you believe. Here are some ideas to get started:

  • Add a sticker of your favorite saint or Bible verse to your water bottle or laptop.
  • Wear a miraculous medal or a cross necklace.
  • Choose a phone wallpaper with a Scripture verse or an image of Jesus.
  • Check out Big Apple Cahtolic’s Shop! Her crew necks are subtle but portray beautiful messages of faith (you might also spot a familiar face on her website 😉 )

The goal isn’t to preach or pressure anyone—it’s simply to share a piece of who you are. You never know how God might use these little things to touch someone’s heart.

In the end, evangelization isn’t about being perfect or having all the answers. It’s about letting your faith shine in the ordinary moments of life. Whether it’s through a sticker on your water bottle or a cross around your neck, these small acts of witness can open doors to meaningful conversations and moments of grace.

Who knows? Your emotional support water bottle might just be the tool God uses to share His love with someone else.

What are your favorite ways to share your faith through the little things? Let me know in the comments—I’d love to hear your ideas!

With love and prayers,
